The freshest, liveliest, most inspired project about women that I’ve seen in a long time.
Patricia Billinge, Director, Milet Publishing

An explosively interesting site for women with a passion for stories and stories about passionate women. From fighter pilots to suffragettes to beauties to beasts this is an exploration of the nature of women through the ages that gives modern women ideas.

Best-selling author, Philippa Gregory

Dissecting Laura Wilkinson …

The Bare Bones - 41 (yikes!), married to Fred (gorgeous), with Morgan, 5, (also gorgeous) and baby Cameron (you guessed it, gorgeous!), living in yet-to-be chic area of Brighton. I am what is known in fashionable circles as a portfolio person - an arts degree, a post graduate journalism qualification, a couple of years working in publishing, many years working as an actress and my current reincarnation as co-founder/writer of dynamic new website, hagsharlotsheroines.com.

Some Flesh - I've always been interested in history, it even formed part of my degree, but I've found that as I've got older this fascination has definitely grown. Perhaps it's something to do with the aging process; an increased awareness of my own mortality has led me to consider what will I leave behind, and this has inspired me to delve deeper into the murky waters of other people's past. Story telling has also been an incredibly important part of my life and a large part of what I consider to be the essential me. After all, I am an actress and a writer. Finally, like so many modern women, gender issues are something that have concerned me throughout my adult life. I was involved in the think tank Demos's pioneering 7 Million Project, all about my generation of women and their expectations, and I'm acutely aware of how lucky I am as a working class woman to have been born in the developed world in the late 20th century.

And Blood - silver's one of my favourite colours, I love clothes and shoes and make up and beauty products and women's mags and TV programmes like Cold Feet, North Square, and Sex and the City. El Cid, Betty Blue, Breakfast at Tiffany's and Planet of the Apes would come in my top ten films of all time and one of the best books ever is Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse 5. My little boys are the best things that ever happened to me and for those of you who are wondering, yes, Helen Wilkinson is my sister!
