I read loads of Joan Aitken books as a kid, she was someone who inspired me to write.

Ooh, I don't know - F&TM was the only Lively book I had! I had a couple of Joan Aitken books as well...wish I could remember the titles now.

Jo: was it Jean Plaidy? I think she covered all the wives. I fell for historical fiction when I was a kid, too - Fanny and the Monsters by Penelope Lively was the first Victorian-set historical I read!

Laura: you're in a great place for researching 18th C. seafaring, though, aren't you? (If my memory serves correctly!)

Mid-eighteenth century - nautical, so lots and lots of research!

Oooh, what era? I won't ask you to reveal any more, for obvious reasons!

I love reading historical fiction, and I have an idea for a historical novel, which I hope to write once I'm done with my current project. Great idea for a group - thanks Faye.

Hi Eva,

I'm a historical novelist as well - what's your era of choice?
