That's fascinating, Tara, because I haven't met many people who DO write to music in this way. I did the same as you - listened to 40s and 50s music - for another novel I wrote last year set in 1940's wartime London. My current series is all written…
I do this as well. My current novel is about witchcraft, and I'm obsessed with Marianne Faithfull's Witches' Song and Leonard Cohen's Sisters Of Mercy. For my last book, about Marilyn Monroe, I favoured Glenn Miller's Moonlight Serenade, plus Frank…

I'm the author of two books on Virginia Woolf and two novels for children, the first of which, 'Zelah Green: Queen of Clean' was shortlisted for the Waterstones Book Prize 2009 and is being considered for television serialisation and the second of which is due out in 2010. I'm a freelance literary consultant, reviewer and live near Chichester Harbour with my lovely husband Tim and my little cat. I like to create strong, feisty and unusual teen heroines for my child readers and really enjoy the feedback I get from them on my website.
How lovely to be a member on this site! I see that Anne Brooke has beaten me to it....we both used to be members of Writewords at one point (well - I still am).
